Drop shocks
I have read that on the rear of these trucks you have to run different length shocks when lowering them. My question is this: what is the difference in length between the shocks? I have a 92 1500 suburban with 4" drop leaves from Western Chassis and am going to add 1" shackles to it to bring it to a 3/5" setup that I need shocks for but only want to order them once. any info would be appreciated Thanks

Re: Drop shocks
You can buy the drop shocks or they sell extensions to your shock mounts to lower them, just kinda depends on which you would rather do.

Re: Drop shocks
My shocks are shot already so I need to replace them anyway. Thanks for the info on the extensions though.

Re: Drop shocks
My '96 SWB is dropped 2/4. I did some research and found that 96-99 Tahoe rear shocks were 4-inches shorter than the OEM-length shocks that my truck came with. So, I got a pair of good Monroe shocks. But, I quickly learned that they have extension out the ying-yang, and nowhere near enough compression...so, they'd bottom out. Bad thing is that I tossed a pair of Toxic Shox because of the ride, not realizing that a big part of the problem was the fact that the shocks, when the supension is lowered, were at an angle that prevented them from working properly. You can get extensions to mount your shocks, but that doesn't restore the angle that works best. I got some upper shock mount relocators that helped a great deal.
But, unless you can put a 4-link in it, it ain't gonna ride like a coil-sprung 67-72.
