Hollywood Top?

Good or bad opinions?

I have a '69 C/10 with a "so/so" body and horrible paint.
A friend of mine had a Blazer with a hard convertible top and I loved that thing in the summer.
According to him it didn't seal well at all for the winter.
Is it possible to get the top to seal well?
I mean, I'm sure it's "possible", but I'd like some input.

What're your thoughts on making a convertible out of a fleetside '69?

Also.. any resources with instructions, tips/tricks, things to watch out for... etc?

Blazer tops seal well "IF" The weatherstrip is good, the top isn't bent, the mating surface is straight and you hold your mouth just right when you put it on.They seem to be like T-tops, meaning you have to have everything just right.Bad body mounts can cause misalignment, crushed seals can cause leaks.Murphy's law applies here"If it can go wrong it will"

Sometimes, it takes several trys to get the hard tops to seal up right. Trial and error. Soft tops are available, they don't leak, aren't too much louder and easy to put up & down. Double wall tops are less desireable, heavier and harder to bolt down than the single wall. I have also seen several double wall tops splitting down the middle.

There are two different people making 1/2 cab tops for the blazers. You might be able to get one of those to work on a pickup cab, or you could go full soft top. Most likely, you'll have the same leak issues with a custom made convertable pickup as with a Blazer, maybe even more. If you do cut the top off a truck, remember to re-inforce the cab so you it doesn't sag in the middle. I think there is a convertable pickup (stepside) in the latest LMC catalog.
