My new $500 DD
Picked this up today for $500 off of craigslist. The guy had it listed for $1000 and said every thing worked. When I called him he told me his wife lost the key and that he had started removing the lock cylinder, so I could not hear it run. So I grabbed a column out of the barn and took it with me. Upon inspection the door panel was removed due to the window track being screwed up. The bench seat that was in it was out or a mid 80's car and not bolted down. The rockers are full of expand-o-fome and the fire wall is rotting at the seam.
I proceded to point all of this out and he said well it's a project. I told him that it was more than a project, it needs a whole new cab and I couldn't even hear it run or find out if it would go through the gears. He then told me that some one else was coming to look at it and he did when I was standing there. I pointed out all the stuff I had seen and the guy walked away so I offered the owner $500 and he decided to give me the title. I then walked over to the car and pulled out my column and hooked it up (he said I didn't even know you could do that). Once everything was ready to go I fired it up on the first try and he was . So now I have a 79 stepper with new fenders, a clean frame, and bed for my daily until I decide to do a cab swap.

Re: My new $500 DD
How did you work the other column?
P.S. i don't like to speak mean, but i think the seller got a good deal out of this meaning it was probably the best thing for him to get rid of it considering the apparent difficulty he was having with it. |

And the fact that he was trying to pass it off as something it was not.

Re: My new $500 DD
Awesome deal, worth it in parts alone. Running/driving is a nice added bonus.

Re: My new $500 DD
Ya, it is not bad other than it needing a cab. The guy just put new Dayton Timberline tires on it 2 months ago.
