HD brakes vs standard brakes

What year did the 1-1/4" brake rotors come on?
I am converting the the thicker rotors up front and Summit has some Brembo rotors on clrearance but it doesn't say if they are 1" or 1-1/4". The application guide says it is for 71-74 C10 Pickups and 75-86 C10s. I called them and they don't have any extra information other than what is on the website. When did GM go from 1-1/4" to 1"?

I think they went to them when the Square '81 front ends came out, because the 81+ i see in the scrap yard are the skinny rotors..but I'm not certain this is the case

Re: HD brakes vs standard brakes

Were the 1" rotors available on the 79 and older trucks or did they all come with 1-1/4" rotors?

I don't believe 1" rotors came on these trucks until the 'metric' years so around 1981. Before then 1.25".

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: HD brakes vs standard brakes

I ordered them and if they aren't 1-1/4" I will just return them. $25 a piece was the cheapest I could find anywhere.
