3 speed to TH350: Shopping for correct Yoke
So I am going to convert my 3 speed to a TH350. I am trying to find the correct Yoke for my 71 3 speed drive shaft. This is the first time I am doing this, not sure it uses outside or inside clips. I inquired on ebay and got this back from a seller:
The 350 yokes comes in many different u-joints and lengths.Does the joint in the shaft use inside or outside clips. If outside we need the cap dia and joint width. Also what kind of vehicle did the trans come out of. does anyone know which type of yoke i should get? |

Count the bolts on the side plate on your 3spd(should be 7, if original)....if thats the case, you have the proper slipyolk already, & the drive shaft is the proper lenght ,for a short(6" tailshaft 350 hydro). crazyL

I also think its the same...try sliding it in. If it needs to be shortened it should be no more that $50 including balancing. Lengthened it will be about $150. Just type in Driveshaft Services for your area...there will be something.

They are probably the same but the 3 speed has a vent hole in the plug at the end of the splines. It should be welded shut.

Re: 3 speed to TH350: Shopping for correct Yoke
Sorry to Hyjack the thread. But since this came up does the TH350 Fit in the low hump tunnel? Or does it need the high hump? Thinking of the same conversion.

Th350 fits under low hump fine. That's the standard configuration the factory did when they were new.

Re: 3 speed to TH350: Shopping for correct Yoke
Changed my L6/3 sp to a smallblock/700r4 last week & I was able to use the same yoke & same driveshaft length.
