Picture request, along with some help needed!

So, right now, I'm thinking about lowering my 72 with either a 2-3" drop, or a 3-4" drop. I'm curious as to what everyone's advice here would be to doing this? I have some money I'm gonna be able to spend to do it the right way.
(I'm gonna post this in the suspension place to)

I'd also like to request some photos of trucks with chrome smoothie wheels mounted. I love the look, and I'm thinking about doing that, but I just don't see many, I've looked through the pictures thread that's stickied, no luck.

Right now I'm in an auto teach class and we were working on suspensions today, but i'm still a little dumb with it all.
What parts/advice can y'all tell me?

Re: seven-dee-two.

the best way is drop spindles in the front then drop springs shocks and a adjustable pan hard bar in the rear

Yes, it matters. For dropping the rear on leaf spring trucks, you have these options:
dropped leaf kit
de/re-arching the original springs
axle flip kit (5-6" of drop minimum)
shackles & hangers (approx 2" drop each)

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

What would you suggest? I'm going for simplest, and hopefully cheapest that'll ride well.

I would do a 2 1/2" dropped spindle up front, & go with the 4" dropped leaf in the rear. Everything is pretty much bolt on(no fab work), & it should ride like it is sposta crazyL

How's the rake gonna be with a 2 1/2 though? I Dont want a lot of rake, i'd like it leveled for the most part.

Most trucks typically come from the factory w/some 'rake' (about 2" it seems is common). The 2.5(F)/4"(R) drop should level the truck alot closer vs. what it is @ stock ride height.

Re: seven-dee-two.

alright nice to know! thanks,
When doin the drop which either be a 2/3, 2.5/4 or 3/4, will i have to worry about c-notchin it? Or what about the angles for the steering and such?

The 2.5/4 will be the closest to level. 4" max rear drops wouldn't need a c-notch. Steering angles won't need tweaking either. Just get a good alignment & verify your shocks have adequate travel.

Re: seven-dee-two.

Alright, so i've been doing alotta looking, and i found a kit with just 3 inch drop springs and a 5" flip kit and all new shocks for about $450, how would that ride compared to doing it with drop spindles and coils, and then a flip kit in the rear? I'm planning on sway bars no matter what..

Also, I found another kit for a little bit more $$$, but instead of springs it's 3"drop spindles? Would that be better than springs? That kit's also for 73-87 trucks with 1" rotors? Would this kit work, I have disk brakes on the front, not sure if it's 1" rotors, biut i'm guessing so.

Re: seven-dee-two.

Spindle drops are always better than a "spring only" drop.
Go with the spindles up front,
You want 71-72 spindles, for a bolt on installation.
(no upper balljoint to change, no outer tie rod to swap out)
No need to switch to 73-87 spindles.

Re: seven-dee-two.

72's = 1.25" rotors.
