Manual Throttle
The dash in the truck that's donating its cab to mine has a manual throttle cable. When I disassembled it, I found that the plastic behind the metal bezel was a small piece about an inch square laid over the sirface of the dash panel itself. The little piece, which included the raised area with the raised letters on it, was not glued to the dash: it was simply held in place by the bezel.
Was this method of labelling the maqnual throttle SOP or did somebody hack up an original dash panel in order to put it through this one. I should note that the option sheet lists the manual throttle as originally installed on the donor truck. What I plan to do is drill a hole in my own dash panel (below the choke) and retain the throttle cable. One more minor question: there was no provision for mounting the rearview mirror above the windshield (that is, no holes in the "headliner"), but the cab is a '70. There is no hint of anything having been attached to the windshield, either. Was it possible to NOT have an in-cab mirror?

As for the throttle, it is factory correct as described. Trun your dash bezel over and you'll see its already stamped with a raised area showing you where to drill the hole.
I'd say it would be possible to have a cab w/o a RV mirror. Is it an original cab or could it have come from a cab and chassis which might have had a camper or box container bolted on the frame making the RV mirror useless.

In 69 the mirror was still an option, but i am pretty sure that it was standard in 70.

My 1970 Blazer has a factory manual throttle. The knob is mouted on the left side of the dash bezel under the headlamp switch. I have never seen another one like it.

Throttle Cable
How does the cable connect to the pedal or does it connect to the carb linkage?

We have a 70 and a 72 which had the factory throttle setup and they both connected to the gas pedal.

There were 2 varieties, one for cable style pedal linkages and one for rod-style linkages. I had a 69 (rod style pedal linkage, not cable) and the hand throttle cable went thru firewall and attached to pedal linkage in engine compartment.

Raises engne rpms to run PTO's, plow hydraulics, etc without having to be in cab. Definately not a redneck cruise control.
