Remind me please. What years had a 205 transfer case and what had a 203? I have two 72 K10s what do I have? Also while I have you-what is the difference between a sm465 and a sm 435? Also what does the SM stand for? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop? What is your favorite color?

465 licks to the center!!!!!!! White is my favorite on a truck!!!! 205 in your 72's. sm465's reverse is down to the right and sm420's is to you and down. Thats all I know, I think!!!!!

The NP203 didn't come along until 1973. All 1972s should have come equipped with an NP205. But with GM it seems nothing is 100% etched in stone, and a few strange things made it off the assembly lines. Although it's highly unlikely, I suppose the possibility exists that a few 72s could have ended up with the Rockwell case like a 1970 I once owned.

wait...do you mean NP435, not SM435? The NP (New Process) transmission was apparently optional on our trucks. I believe boardmember VTKidder has one in his truck. This is what other truck makers of the time used, as I think (dont hold me to this) that it has a granny low like the SM465.
Also, I would like to know what SM stands for. Saginaw-Muncie

not sure about the NP 435 I just remember it from a post. I think I have the SM (whatever that stands for) 465 in my 72s.

All NP205's have a small 3 bolt cover on the rear of the case right next to the rear drive shaft. NP203's do not have this cover

Afew NP435 were in 2wd trucks, in 4wd fords. The np203 was from 73-78. The dana 20 was found in K5s w/ a straight six and manual tranny only or something like that. White, and 3.
