Rearend swap 55 2nd series

Hey all, I'm a newbie and I was wondering if I can put a 71 chevelle rear under my 55 pickup. My rear is 62" and the chevelle is 62.5" width. If anyone has done this I could use some pics. Thanks Nate

been dioscussed here many times. the half inch is no big deal but you'll have to skin off all the Chevelle control arm brackets and weld on leaf spring mounts. The big ears on top usually need to go too.

It's a ford read end but the work will be the same... I used a new spring and hanger kit from TCI easy to install and makes it ride great..
