Gas Starvation
1st time ever my 63 left me stranded today. Not getting any fuel. I had a can of starting fluid and sprayed in in the carb, it runs until the ether is gone then stalls. I have yet to pour gas in carb, gonna wait until dusk cause it's too blamed hot! I'm thinking fuel pump or filter. It is full of gas, I use lead additive. It was over 100 degrees and I didn't feel like having another heart attack today, so I called a tow ($70.00). Truck is an in-line 6. How much of a P.I.T.A. is it to remove and replace fuel pump? Could anyone please provide step by step or trouble shooting instructions?
Pete

Re: Gas Starvation
fuel pump is easy on those. I would take the filter off first and try blowing through it. You should be able to blow through almost like blowing through a straw. If it is free take the fuel line off of the pump that goes to the carb and hook up a hose to that to get it away from any electronics and see if any gas comes out when cranking it. Only crank it a few times. If no fuel then you probably need a new fuel pump. Might as well do the filter also.
Just disconnect the fuel lines from the pump and then take the two bolts out of the pump and it should come right off. Then put it all back.
