Cool help with tach questions?

ok my friend and i are having a little feud he says there are different tachs for 6 cyl and for 8 cyl and he says theres one for diesel and also he says there are different rpm like a 50 a 60 and a 80 are these things true?

Your friend is correct the 6cyl, 8cyl, & diesel all used a different tach and the RPM graduations were different from each other as the motors had different operating ranges and this caused the faces to change, its on the back of every OEM tach in light blue letters which motor its for 6CYL 8CYL or DIESEL
