E-Brake emergency brake help
I need help in figuring out how to get the parts I need for my son's 64 C10. I have the cables coming from the rear wheels and I have a handle. Both are pictured. What I don't have are any of the cables or hardware that is suppose to go between the handle and the rear wheel cables.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find these cables? Ive hit up a couple of reproduction sites asking for help and all they tell me is that they don't make this for the 60-66 series. I don't really want to go the lokar route because my son really wants to stick with the stock \ vintage look that the handle gives him. Re: E-Brake emergency brake help
Hey mud,
Do you have the e-brake crossmember and all the gimikus that goes with it? Check my build thread if you want to see how you can fab it all up if it is not with your truck. Good luck, TR

Here is what the stock linkage on the cross member of my 65 looked like.

Re: E-Brake emergency brake help
gotmud,
if you want stock and you have that piece, I think you can buy the rest of it. If you just want to keep the handle under the dash and have park/emergency brakes... you can use the 1966 C10 and later style system. 1966 C10 park brake cable routing I used the later system on my '65(auto 3 speed tranny and I had no ebrakes when I bought it), it will hold the truck stopped on a hill... Good luck. -W |

Re: E-Brake emergency brake help
I am using a Lokar cable kit with the stock handle. Luckily the first few feet of the original cable is in place. I think LMC sells this key piece. I am not using any of those pictured linkages.
The steel C-shaped link between my drum brake shoes was missing, so I had to find a couple of those before I could complete the install. |
