Speedo Doesn't Work

Did my due dilegence and searched the site but didn't find anything. What are the top things that make a speedo malfunction in these trucks? It doesnt work at all and everything is hooked up corectly.

If you can remove the cluster and check the back and see if it freely moves on the gauge to rule out the gauge being stripped...my first guess would be the speedo cable...I have several that I've thrown out of parts lots I've gotten because they were either kinked or had melted to headers/exhaust manifolds and wouldn't function...

unhook it from the trans and see if you can spin it by hand or drill to work. if so it's probably the drive or driven gear in the trans (little plastic gears) mine don't work because of the driven gear is broke just ain't got to it yet
