Wink c10 UK style

Hi guys, could some one advise on a good bed cover for my ride, I have a fibreglass lid at present but it is a hassle keep removing it to get the motorcycles aboard. We are looking for good weatherproofing (it rains every other day !), good fit, and easily removed. Great site, I have used it many times during rebiuld. Regards Chris c10rookie.............

Aha, another UK member, enjoying the heat down there? It's bloody hot up here and you've probably got a few degrees on us.

I'm getting a soft cover made up locally before the winter by a tarpaulin/curtainside lorry company. I've laid my hands on some aluminium angle that I'm going to build a frame with that will clamp to the bed rails via the stake pockets and the cover will then clip to it so it will be totally reversible and should be pretty waterproof (I wil make some bows to keep the middle up to stop a lake forming) My brother in law had a cover made at the same place for his Nissan Cabstar and it cost about 65 quid.

As for rain, you want to try the spending a winter up here in the balmy north-west, I moved up from Reading about ten years ago and was really surprised how much colder and wetter it is up here.

Welcome aboard by the way, oh and how about some pictures!

WOW another chevy truck owner this side of the pond, great. I made the cover we use now but just wanted to get a good fit, as you know the rain here kills our trucks, they dont know how lucky they are do they I cant seem to post a pic ??? HOW DO YOU DO THAT THEN ??? I live in Essex, but may be on the move up to Stoke on trent early next year, Yea weather is good the last few days, but I cant use my truck as the thermostat housing has cracked, there is one winging its way out to me. Have you found anyone in the UK that has stock & knowledge of our trucks, I seem to allways talk and buy bits from the good ole USA. Have have met one guy at a show at Market Drayton 2 years ago and he gave me soooo much cr*p I have not really bothered to source anyone else this side. I will try to post a pic, if I cant I'll send one to your e-mail and please do the same. Regards Chris.

Hi ya ! you better beleive it !! I had to order an inlet gasket and rotor cap and spark plugs last month, problem is we dont have dealers with stock, they get an order and place it with 10 or 20 other guys parts, it take 3 times as long and we have to pay well over the retail. You's guys really dont know how lucky you are, but I would bet that you can get most parts for a Jaguar though. We just dont get it over here. I have been using PAW & Summit for engine parts and Tuckers in Vegas for the OEM parts I wish I was born 3000 mile to the west Regards Chris

Been there..

You gotta love yellow trucks! I had the reverse problem with my '69 Mini Estate, '68 Triumph TR250 (TR5 over there), Fiat 850, etc. There are a few suppliers in the states, but they just wait til they can get a full cargo container, then you might get what you want.

Don't forget Edmund in the Netherlands. It's nice to have an international perspective to the hobby.

good luck, Scott

I get my service parts from Ultimate Spares of America based somewhere in Norfold, Wymondham I think, them and US Automotive have pretty much all of the general service parts in stock, I recently ordered a set of Champion plugs, Fram oil filter, Standard motor parts PCV valve, Felpro diff gasket and five quarts of Pennzoil all delivered next day. I also got a Mr Gasket chrome thermostat housing from them ex stock in the past.

OEM GM parts can be ordered from the same suppliers but take longer to get. Knowldege of our trucks is a bit more of an issue, but at least the common things such as engine parts etc are easy to source. I have also ordered stuff from the US, from Wes at Classic Heartbeat, GMC Paul, who are both board members and also from Chevy Duty.

There is another British member of the board, his screen name is 68Racer, lives near Silverstone and I know of a ^* stepside near Sheffield.

By the way, yellow trucks rule!
