wood beds in 73-87 fleetsides

i got this nice wood bed catalog in the mail, and was wondering if any one here or that you know has installed a wood bedfloor in their fleetside.

i can see how it would look cool as well, as look.... out of place??

anyway the ride i have in mind is my 77 long bed.

My uncle has the last truck my Grandpa bought. It's a 1977 Sierra Classic, Heavy Half, 454, TH400, PW, PDL, cruise, tilt, A/C. It also has the wood floor long wide bed. That truck is probably the whole reason I'm into these trucks at all.

my 1974 has a wood bed floor and i have to against the grain here-no pun intended-but i dont like it and want to replace it with a steel bed floor.i heard somewhere that the front caps on our beds are different in a steel bed floor truck than in a wood bed floor truck.is that true and if so do you have to do any modifications to a wood bed floor trucks front to make it work with a steel bed floor and are the bed sides different as well or no?anyone with knowledge on this please let me know as im going to do this in the future.thanks in advance.

i know it's all about personal preference, but why don't you like it? is it asthetic or functional?

My 68 had a wood bed. I could only wish my 77 did. I like the looks of a wood bed.

I can't find Bruce Horkeys website right now. Check this article out about his kits though. If you have a wood bed, he builds awesome kits. If you don't have one, but want one, he makes a kit that lays over your steel floor. I have seen the results, and it looks awesome...

I think it really depends on the truck....on mine it would be silly. But on one that is mostly stock appearing like N2TRUX's truck, it would be a killer addition!!

a little bit of both actually.i think in a custom or show type truck o where the bed doesnt get used for hauling then its ok or in the case of owner preference but in the case of my truck where i actually use the bed for hauling and such and i also want to put an inside the bed toolbox in it to store tools and what not then its kind of useless to have a woodbed floor hence the reason i want to swap to a steel bed floor.

Yeah, I thought so too. I ordered the catalouge and some samples. All my buddies voted it down though.
I guess I'm stuck with putting a bed mat in there for now

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
