no bolts in bed

So here I am driving to fill the tank up. I just got the truck on the road about two months ago but havent been driving it much since Im still doing a little work. Im driving down the road and notice the bed is sliding back and forth. Come to find out the PO never had the bed bolted down. It only slid slightly to the left but now the holes dont match up. Do I need to lift the bed to get it lined back up or is there anyway I can slide it over that wouldnt necessitate a lot of help?

Re: no bolts in bed

there should be a small rubber pad between the bed mount and the frame mount, you will need to lift it, line the bolt holes up and place the pad in correct spot then lower the bed and bolt it down, leave them all loose untill you have it right where you want it, then tighten them up.

Re: no bolts in bed

You can clamp a piece of 2" medium or heavy wall square steel tubing or a 4x4 across the bed rails and then lift the bed up with an engine hoist.

I don't think there is more than one bolt currently in my bed.

Me too. I drove about 40 miles home with the bed full of parts. About 3 miles before I got home I made a left turn and the whole bed slid over and started rubbing the inside of the passenger side rear tire. I decided to just let it rub and drive home to deal with it. I just ordered the rubber pads, slid the bed to correct place and went under the bed and just lifted it enough to get the pads in before bolting it down.
