That's an interesting truck, wonder what they consider a reasonable offer to be. I don't remember ever seeing those duel tail lights before. Was that a factory option? Running the wires so that they wouldn't get damaged would be a challenge.

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
That thing is virtually in my backyard!
The way the ad is written the owner thinks he's really got something special - I don't think so. I doubt those taillights were ever any kind of "rare factory option". At most, some 1958 dealer-added thing. Personally I'd dump them, first thing. I'm guessing this guy is dreaming of a payday well north of $5000 and maybe even thinking he can approach $10,000. NO friggin way I'd even entertain those numbers....and yes, I know its a SWB Fleet big window. It's also a 25 year neglected rust bucket. Just my $.02. |

I've seen this truck on CL for a long time. He reposts it a bout every 2 months, I guess hoping for the one person that "Just has to have it"

Hi Fredo,
I forgot all about calling you last night. I'll give it another shot tonight. Yeah, I weas thinking I'd seen those tailights before so he must have posted it somewhere else too. Somewhere locally to Pasadena that Im ust have seen. I'm tempted to call him to ask what the ballpark price is, but I suppose that's cruel...and makes me a Craigslist Flake! |

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
I see rust in all the usual places, possibly under the floor matts and stainless window trim. I've never seen that taillight option either. I didn't wait for engine pics to load but it does have the V8 hood trim. Also no clue on if its half or 3/4 ton. I'm guessing he will have it for a while as it continues to rust away. Dan you can just email him an offer and see if he answers or thinks you are flake.

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
Ths truck is not listed on Evilbay. Asking price is 10,000 bucks! Someone should send him a picture of a $10,000 truck so he can get a better idea of what reality smells like.
Dan, I think he is the CL flake, since it seems that he has no clue what trucks in that condition are going for. of course he or she may not have the knowledge, some family member or close friend may have filled his head with FUD |

that's the rare "Hardware Store Taillight" option.
fits right in with the condom holder on the front bumper. |

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
I have to agree on the dual tail lights, It looks like a dealer add on or JC Whitney add on. It is a custom cab so that gives it some points. The body is in fairly good shap and its a 1/2 ton V8 4 speed so that also gives some points. If 10k is the real asking price I doubt they will get it, I would offer $2500. While it looks better than some it sat way to long to be a driver without major work.

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
I'd hate to sit on the hood while drunk and accidentally slide off. I'd never be the same...I'd have to sell the truck!

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
I think the reason he's asking $10,000 for it is BECAUSE of that rare option on the front bumper. Good for those lonely nights out on the plains, if that's your style...."not that there's anything wrong with it"
Seriously, I don't know what gets into people. There is guy on CL that literally has had a set of "rare" Torque Thrust rims for sale since at least 2-1/2 years ago when I was looking for some for my then '46 truck. He was asking $1200. Now, all this time later I think he's down to $1070, but he's come down like $10 a month every month since then. C'mon, you want to sell something or you think you own Krugerands? |

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
Consensus seems to be this is a $2500-$3500 truck...and frankly? Who knows BETTER than the lot of guys on THIS site? No one. Even if you were dumb and threw caution to the wind let's say you'd go $5000...you're still nowhere near the neighborhood this guy is dreaming in.

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
You know, I like the fact that it's all there. It's a fleetside big window, I'd go as high as 5g's because I dig the patina.
I feel bad for the person who "rides up front". I mean come on, weld some foot peg on the bumper and a back rest on the grill.

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
I put together a list of custom options for this fine looking truck I am sure I missed some options.
Custom tie down rings everywhere The custom painted steering that must be worth more money The well placed tach Reflectors everywhere The red neck gun rack The custom headliner The stickers on the roof of the cab The custom rear bumper c/w bumper guards and 2” ball and a receiver hitch The camper mirrors That thing hanging off the front bumper The Chevy bow tie in the grill (this is the best option) Duel exhaust And the already rare option duel tail lights (so rare nobody else has them) |

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
Perhaps not a big deal, but it apparently wasn't originally a four speed. If you look at the underhood pic you can see that the three speed shifter box is still there on the steering column.
I actually like the tail lights so I would leave them on there if it were mine. Maybe someone will get it and give it the love it deserves. |

Re: B/W fleetside in LA on C/L
funny what people think someone else will pay for their crap that they wouldn't pay themselves. This dude has been watching to much barrett jacksons. My 59 is a lot nicer than that and i would be shocked to get 5 for it. Hell there is a 59 for sale here in e.wash. For 6500. Big window newer paint already clipped 350/350 and they guy cant sell it! This guy with the "special option tail lights" should go invest in a lottery ticket.
