Factory exhaust schematic?
Hello, I'm looking to run a new exhaust system on my 85 k10. It has a 305 with a sm465 4 speed transmission.
The guy who had the truck before me put a bunch of flex pipe exhaust tubing under it so I'm trying to figure out the best way to run all new pipes, keeping everything up as high as possible so it won't get knocked off when I'm off-road. They way he ran the flexpipe hangs down and will get knocked clean off the first time I take it off-road... he ran everything horribly, so I can't use the same route. So does anyone have a factory recommended schematic for running exhaust or any recommendations? Thanks! |

I know that at my exhaust shop, if you explained what you wanted, they could make it happen. I just had dual 2.25" exhaust installed exiting behind the tires like stock. It was very tight and clean making it easy to access my trans and starter, leaving room for my rear mounted spare or hitch. They can throw it on a lift and describe their idea after hearing what you're looking for. I'm not sure that factory schematics will help you here.

I used a $ 199 kit from LMC on my 79 1/2 ton and I thought it worked great. There isnt a exhaust shop around here that would put a dual exhaust system on a cat equiped truck. LMC's kits can have numerous exits, I chose stock exit true duals with 2.5 inch aluminized pipe. everything fits perfect. They also have y pipe setups for the single exhaust guys.

Check out either the Walker exhaust website or the Maremont website. Both will have schematics to give you an idea about what was factory and what it looks like.

Mine Runs from the headers to a crossover pipe then spread to the side of the frame rails as soon as it hits the bed it raises in height ave the axle it forms a v look over it after that it spreads to clear the tire carrier and exits at the rear.
