I have a 72 2wd 1/2 ton.... With factory rear leaf spring suspension, I would like to know if rear leafs from a 4x4 would fit? Mine are 52" long if i had 52" long 4x4 8" lift leafs would they fit ok and lift the rear 8"?

Re: 4x4 rear leafs in 2x4

I do believe the spring centering pin is in the wrong location, therefore your axle would not be in the correct location in the wheel well. I ran into that issue on a 2wd to 4x4 swap recently. The 2wd spring hangers are in a different location then the 4x4 frame. Hope this helps.

Re: 4x4 rear leafs in 2x4

I had a 4x4 rolling frame and ended up using the half ton 4x4 springs. only reason I was going to consider the 3/4 2wd springs is because they were a little beefier and would of matched the front 2 in lift springs, ordered an add a leaf and hopefully level it out where I want it.

I also have a 1/2 ton 72 2wd with leaf. I don't know about the 1/2 ton 4x4 springs but I measured some off a 3/4 ton 4x4 and they were wider than the 1/2 2wd springs. I assumed the 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4x4 springs were the same width because when you order new ones they specify for 1/2 or 3/4 ton.

Re: 4x4 rear leafs in 2x4

There are two spring widths, 2.25" and 2.5" and two spring lengths. 52" and 56" long springs. They should swap out if you match for width and length.

I've got 3/4 ton, 4x4, 6 leaf, 2.5" wide, 52" springs in my 2wd now.

Alex.
