Re: i find it amazing ... front wheel drive truck??

i had a guy i wored with had a 78 or 79 4wd square that was front wheel drive. something in the transfer case was designed to do that. we put lock out hubs in thinking that he was gonna get better fuel mileage went to back the truck out of the garage and it wouldnt move at all. locked the hubs in and the thing backed right out of the garage

Re: i find it amazing ... front wheel drive truck??

That would have had a NP203 transfercase which is a full time 4x4. It is suppost to put power to all wheels at all times, and if you put lock outs on the front it would just spin the front shafts and not spin the rear.

Re: i find it amazing ... front wheel drive truck??

[QUOTE=powerdriver 1958;4427390]The front wheel drive pickups from what I could hunt up and please correct me if I'm wrong , Are all custom built . I have seen custom built pickups that had what looks to be a trailer grafted on for hauling cars.
Attachment 685722
I haven't seen a factory built one .
Attachment 685723

I'm looking for info on the trucks you posted do you have a web site ?

A tired warrior of the 1980s in a world of low profile tires, front wheel drive, and plastic bumpers, where people stay in their houses until snowplows move the offending substance from their paths, too helpless to travel without AAA and chains and salt, clearing their windows with longhandled brushes while gently stepping around in the snow trying to stay nice and dry.

Re: i find it amazing ... front wheel drive truck??

you guys are forgetting VW Caddys are fwd and so are a few other import trucks, honestly its not a horrible idea (domestic gods wait till i finish to strike me down) with no weight in the rear and the amount of middle passenger leg room that could be increased i dont see why not.

on other trucks though, not on chevys...

edit, the pictures two posts up hadnt loaded when i posted... oops sorry

There are also a few dodges running around town here that are FWD, the bed drops down like that ford. Threw me off for a sec when i didnt see a rear end.

yea, until u wash out because ur weight load is now like 90/10..... why n the hell would u ever make a truck fwd unless u drive in reverse 24/7 or load things only on the hood??? what a dumb idea.

where do u want weight?? OVER THE DRIVE TIRES yet keeping the closest to a 50/50 weight dist.

ONLY REASON FOR A FWD TRUCK:::: mommy and daddy own the towns most popular company and feed me money rather than attention.

done.
