My brother has a 1988 Cheyenne 1500 5-speed V6. He wants it to be a lot faster.
Anything that is really easy to swap in and can be built up pretty easily, such as a 350/454? |

88Cheyenne,
That V-6 will never be fast unless you add some NOS!! A 350/454 will bolt right into the truck. You can buy a GM crate 350 for about $1,300 to drop in. I think you can also bolt up all the V-6 TBI stuff to a 350 with no problems. A 454 will require more extensive mods. Drop the tranny and add a 700R4. For some really neat mods, look around for a TPI engine. 305s are easy to find out of Camaros and Firebirds. The 350 TPIs are harder to find since they sell pretty quick. For parts look around www.ebay.com for TPI units. Wiring one can be done fairly easy with a harness from www.painlesswiring.com ------------------ Gerardo 1983 Custom Truck TX Plates: "BAD BOW" http://www.geocities.com/abetterchemist/ [This message has been edited by gchemist (edited 09-27-2001).] |
