windshield replacement
75 Pickup and I need to replace the windshield. The old windshield is out and the opening has been cleaned up ready to go.
I am confused on which rubber to order .... I see some on ebay that seem to be one piece .....suggesting you would put the rubber on the window -> Insert the window and use the rope method on the inside .... with this method do you use adhesive? is this an easier way to do it than some of the other things I have seen that have a locking strip. Thanks in advance. |

Re: windshield replacement
when i had mine done by a professional he said that you should use the gasket with the insert and he did use some black kind of adhesieve that looked like form a gasket the other kind doesnt sit as well ( according to him) I used one of those mobile glass guys who does it in the driveway

Re: windshield replacement
1/8 '' rope works great, do not set the the rubber in the channel just set the windshield and rubber against it (even all the way around) criss-cross your rope at the bottom in the center and have someone put slight down pressure on the glass. a little dish wash liquid works great. hope this helps

Re: windshield replacement
It depends on which rubber you use. Some are just the rubber then others have the chrome/black inlay... If your weather stripping is just the rubber you will have to rope it in. If you have the chrome/black inlay just lay the wind shield in and then use the tool to put the inlay/binding in.. It will go in dry with no sealant if you use the inlay/binding...

Re: windshield replacement
Soak the seal in dish soapy water. Put on glass first. Rope into truck.
