65 to 72 conversion question.
I put 72 front rotors on my 65, I changed every thing from the A arms out.
My question is...can I use the original tie rod ends with this rotor change or do I have to some how put 72 tie rod ends on? Thanks

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
Not for sure but believe that the tie rod end size is diffrent? Atleast it is form 67-70 have one size then 71-72 are diffrent.

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
I used spindles from a 1979 C10. I think they are the same as the 1972.
I used the original 1965 center link. Napa part#s Tie rod ends Inner-ES406L Outer-ES-409-R Sleeves-ES-2004-S Cut 1/2" off both inner & outer on driver's side to get enough adjustment to center it all and have same amount of turning both ways. Bolts right up. Worked for me and was cheap. Last edited by PORKY; 08-08-2011 at 06:49 PM. |

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
I did a little more research on here since my post and its says that the 72 tie rod ends are bigger and a different thread than the 65, so does that sleeve you are showing a pn# for make the conversion that I think I might need?

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
Yes that sleeve joins those 2 new tie rod ends.

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
The whole mess, 4 tie rod ends and 2 sleeves from Napa was less than $90.

Re: 65 to 72 conversion question.
i also kept the '66 center link on mine, and i'm using stock '72 spindles...i have '72 outer tie rods and '66 inner tie rods which will be mated using POL (Performance Online) adjusting sleeves....i don't have any of it assembled yet but hopefully will in the near future
