Factory fan questions

Guys,
did the factory fans for a 1977 truck use a spacer or where they just bolted to the pulley?

I am trying to go back original with my truck and when I bought it it had an aftermarket fan.

Re: Factory fan questions

They had a fan clutch from the factory. The spacer is only used with the flex fans.

Re: Factory fan questions

IMO, clutch fan. I believe spacers were used to get the correct fan position in the shroud.
My '73 had an old fixed fan and about a 2" spacer.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Re: Factory fan questions

quick question
is it true the old 4 blade fans were on some kinda recall?
my 78 burb threw a blade and it went threw the master lines to the valve/frame rail
of course after all new lines, heard bang leaving a light, engine shook like crazy,no brakes
rolled to a stop......was told about the 4 blade being common for this breakage?
