Whats with the price of the 72 big block mounts?

I mean seriously. Yeah they were one year only, but they sure don't seem to be in short supply. Hell most of the BB trucks I've seen are 72's. I can see if you are doing a 100% factory resto, but if your not why don't more people use the more common 73+ up mounts? My understanding is the mounts are the same for both the sb and bb motors for the 73+ trucks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Whats with the price of the 72 big block mounts?

72 bbc mounts are a better design than the 68-71 saddle style. They also are a direct bolt in to our trucks. 73-up require slight modification. I have seen sets of 72 only going for around $100 now, not too bad IMO.

Re: Whats with the price of the 72 big block mounts?

When we put the 454 in my '71 we used the '73 mounts that came with the motor. The newer mounts allowed us to use the Hooker headers we had for the engine.

It did require a little modification though.
