LWB Tailgate and SWB Tailgate

69-72 chevy

This is prob. a dumb question, but is there any difference between a longbed tailgate and shortbed tailgate? Or are they identical. Thanks

Re: LWB Tailgate and SWB Tailgate

Thanks TMS!

Looking at a 69 tailgate for a 71. Owner says it was taken off in early 70's and never used since. Staight with very small surface rust.

Should fit no problem. If it is what he claims, that is a good find!

Yes, I agree! Is there anyway I can truely identify it as OEM? Stamped part # or something?

Can't verify, but in 12/28/2002 someone wrote:

I should take a scale with me and weigh it.

True. And 4x4 truck tailgates are mounted higher off the ground.
