My '65 on a summer's day

Last weekend with the boat in tow, will post a few more pics later. This truck has been in the family since new, but I'm still making a few improvements/repairs/mods.

Cool shot. The bumper sticker sure makes it look authentic and original!

That's awesome Scott

I didn't realize your truck has been in your family since new. That is very cool that your family was able to keep it in the family.

Did you get that 14 bolt under there yet?

Didn't get the 14 bolt in yet, but I got the brackets, very nice work! If you look closely in one of the pics you'll see the 14 bolt in the bed still. I really want it out! I'm working on getting help removing the leaf spring brackets and welding on the saddles I got from you. Haven't decided yet how I want to handle the panhard bar bracket.

Yes, Captains 14-Bolt Conversion Brackets are Superb.

I just cut the Panhard-bar Bracket off my Eaton and welded it to the 14-Bolt.

Oh Yeah...

Beautiful Family Heritage.

I know it may sound corny, but every time I read in these forums that someone got their Family's old truck, a lump comes up in my throat, and I think of my grandpa.

That's who I got my truck from, my dear grandpa who bought it new in '65. 3 years ago he gave it to me while he could see me enjoy it, he always knew I wanted it. About a year and half ago he passed, and even today getting into it reminds me of him. I was a little weird bringing it home finally, I kept it in their garage for the first year like nothing ever changed.

It had a vintage '69-ish canopy on it and while it was in good shape, really didn't enhance the look of the truck so I took that off and the bed wood is almost still all good, but will need replacement. The tailgate had been in the rafters (along with the chains) for as long as I could remember. The bumper sticker is my doing, it's an original on a magnetic sheet so it's easily removed.

Other recent changes were to change the intake on the original 283 to a '66 quadrajet intake to retain the stock look, with a '78 quadrajet on top of that. Other than that she's bone stock.
