What does a 1952 pickup bed weight?
I'm working on a S10 chassis conversion and I'm building some ladder bars. I need to set the rear suspension to ride height. I do not have a bed to set on the chassis at this time. I'm guessing the bed weighs 400 pounds. Does anybody know? Thanks

It won't have a significant effect on ride height with new coil overs or springs. You need to run them about 500 miles to get the springs to take a slight set before it will really be at ride height.
Absent of that, it will probably take more than 400lbs to figure this out. If you are running coil overs, you will have a preload adjustment and three mounting positions to make adjustments later if needed. I ran mine full soft and at the lowest position and it was perfect. Even with full loads I haven't had it bottom out and I didn't 'c' my frame. |

Re: What does a 1952 pickup bed weight?
I just took a 9' box off mine last week and was able to pick up one end of the box and move it around quite easily by my self, so I would be surprised if it weighed more than 200 lbs.

Doug. Was that with the floor in it and all the support memebers? Thanks.

It was the complete box with wood floor cross members and tailgate less fenders.

The bed with headboard, tailgate and fenders, but with no wood or sills probably doesn't weigh more than 100 lbs.

Sounds like 200# would be more accurate than 400#?

Re: What does a 1952 pickup bed weight?
I had the SN bed off my 57 a few weeks ago. It took 4 big guys to carry it off. I would have guessed closer to 400 lbs myself. Put it this way, the corner I had hold of weighed more than 50 lbs. closer to 100.
