one wire alternator

I have read all I could find on here and still have a couple of questions. I understand the wiring for a 3 wire set up. On one of the trucks I have a one wire alternator. It works fine and have had no charging issues. When I installed the one wire I did nothing with the wires at the external voltage regulator. The three wire has jumps and all but what about the one wire? Can I just plug the one hot wire to the post on the back and leave all the other wires alone? I am getting ready to do the charging system on another one of the trucks and have several one wire alternators. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the info. I saw the overwhelming consensus for the 3 wire, are they truly that much better?

i cut all my wires out. all the way to the core support and ran the 1 wire from alternator to the hot wire on the starter, it;s pretty simple, the reason i ran it to the starter instead of the battery it's just 1 less wire to build up corrosion at the battery

I do not have gauges in my cluster, just speed and gas on that one truck. Well the way I connected this one in was where the red wire comes from the battery and meets with the wiring at the voltage regulator, I soldered it all together there so I have the wire from the battery, the wire from the alternator, and the hot wire to the fuseblock all soldered on one connection. Everything else I cut loose and taped up. Have had no problems but do appreciate other insight as to if I did it right.
