hey guys I am needing some advice on what cam and what heads to put in my truck. I have a 72 C10 with a Turbo350 with 3.55 gears. this truck is my toy that I will drive maybe once during the week and sometimes on weekend. I won't be doing any towing, I am wanting a cam that produces good low to mid-range torque, this truck will rarely if ever see 5000 RPM's and this is what I am thinking about and yall tell me if I am on the right track.

Lift: 454/454

This was on the truck if I can use the RPM Air Gap and make more torque

I am calculating that my compression should be somewhere around 9.3-1 I know there are more factors that go into figuring that than what I have but I think that will be pretty close. What I am after is a good sounding cam, but I still want to have good vacuum at idle so I can run power brakes, AC, Power steering, etc. And also does anyone have an idea of what kind of power HP/Torque this will produce and if it will have good vacuum.

That is a really good cam for what you want. you might want to advance the cam 2 or 4 degrees for more bottom end depending on how much you want.
you might want to look at the 350 horsepower 327 cam that a really good cam , you get good power plus a little lope lope

I am building a very similar engine at the moment. 355, flat tops, vortec heads modified for more lift. I was going to go with that exact same cam.

The reason i didnt go with it was due to some complaints about valve noise due to the way the lobes opened/closed so fast. I Youtubed videos of the different cams in 350 or 355's to get an idea of what cam had the sound i liked.

I went with the Lunati 60103. I am building the bottom end right now.

I dont see anything wrong with what your planning on doing. You compression seems about right for that cam too. The air gap manifold might not benefit your application.

With flat tops and 64 cc chambers will get you 10.25 compression. 76cc chambers will get you just around 9.0. That should be a great cam for that engine, I am looking at the same cam for my 74 C10 truck. If I were you, i would step up to the RPM intatke too, the performer is just a stock 4 bbl intake that does give alot of boost in power, the RPM will run much better.

Hey dznucks I have actually read the same thing about the HE268 Comp Cam about their ramping on the cam. Will the Lunati give me fair to good vacuum for my accessories like I want?

I dont know. I havent got the motor build yet, still working on bottom end. Its my understanding that it should still maintain a decent vacuum to run accesories. I am not running any, so it wasnt a factor for me.

I had a similiar grind cam from Isky with 10.1 flat tops and modified double hump heads in front of a TH350 and 3.54 rear. The motor really came to life after 5000 rpm and made about 350hp. I had no problem with vac.
