New member introduction and questions
New to this forum and just recently purchased a 1972 C20 from a fellow member here. Planning on freshening up the truck a bit and glad I found this resource for help and advice. Obviously I am a car nut or I would not be here; looking forward to getting my truck in better shape and getting to know some of you along the way. I am very hands on and do most of my own restoration work except paint and body. My most recent restoration was a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 than can be viewed at buickhorsepower.com; look for the seamist green with white interior.
My first questions are: 1) Who is the best vendor to buy restoration parts for our trucks? I want to stay away from the Chinese and other overseas garbage on the market. 2) Does anyone have a resource for an original 1972 C20 assembly manual? Thanks in advance! Quote:

Re: New member introduction and questions
Hey Jeff! Welcome aboard! Congratulations on the purchase of your new truck. How about posting some pics? You're right, this board is a great resource. Here's one place to get an assembly manual: http://compare.ebay.com/like/3704510...=263602_325002
but I would Google it to find the best price. |

Re: New member introduction and questions
Jeff, welcome to the board. What part of Texas? Many good vendors on here and 99.9% are good. Go to www.pickupsandparts.com to get our story.
Welcome again Paul and Jason

North Texas huh ?
Come to the Pate Swap Meet at the end of this month and you'll find all the repro parts you'll ever want and you can see them in person before you buy. Kennys Trucks will be there with his vendor trailer. I've been buying from him for over 15 years and always been very happy with his parts and prices.

Re: New member introduction and questions
Thanks for the great information guys. Regarding the Pate swap meet, kind of excited to finally be able to attend and buy something, I never was able to find Buick parts there.
Pulled the motor and transmission from the C20 today, started out just as a day to get a plan going on the truck and one thing lead to another. That big block and turbo 400 mated together is a monster. Thanks again!

Your truck looks pretty sweet. I really like the houndstooth seat cover. Good luck with your new project! Keith |

Re: New member introduction and questions
Frame detailed with new suspension pieces being hung this weekend. Vintage air next on the list.
Having a hard time deciding if I should paint the firewall. Both sides have the usual rust surface spot (not a hole) and the seam under the wire harness is crusty. Both of these areas are not seen, any opinions if I should just repair those hidden areas or repair and shoot the complete firewall blue again? Thanks!
