98 k1500 turn over but no start? help please!!!!!
heres the details its a 98 automatic 5.7L 4x4
cut off while driving down the road.... now not getting any spark... have replaced: -wires -dist. cap -rotor button -coil -ignition module -camshaft position sensor -crankshaft postion sensor did have cel on but 2 code readers both said they could not communicate tested obdII connector was getting power to 3 prongs, dont know if/which one was the power prong though after turning motor over several times the cel went off? all fuses look good tested for power on the connector to the coil and ignition module and niether had power? any ideas? im thinking computer maybe? |

Pink wire on both the coil and ICM are connected together and should have 12 volts with KOEO. They are supplied by fuse number 20 U/H labeled ECM1 which is a 20amp fuse.
Got to get 12 volts back before going any further. You also need to communicate with the VCM and retrieve the codes. Start by checking the pink wire of the ignition for 12 volts. Then check the fuse. Then probe both sides of the fuse to see if you have 12 volts there. On the DLC there is not power on 3 pins. There is 12 volts on pin 16. Orange wire that gets power from the Aux power fuse #7 I/P 25amp fuse. Pin 5 with the black/white wire goes to ground. Pin 4 with the black wire also goes to ground. Pin 2 is the actual serial data wire and goes to the various modules including the VCM. By you seeing voltage on one of the ground points indicates to me the ground line was broke and your meter was merely floating. |
