Carb Rebuild Kits
I'm in the market for a carb rebuild kit and would like to do it right the first time.
BWD? Walker Products? Wanting to see what you have used and what has worked. Thanks guys!

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
I've used both of those and many others. I've never had a problem with any of them.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
I used a walker to rebuild my q-jet. Worked pretty well, stopped the backfiring when I down shifted. don't know about mileage cause I never checked it. I'd also recommend getting this book, "How to Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors" by Cliff Ruggles.
A huge help if you've never done a rebuild before and with alot more detail/info than the instructions that come in the rebuild box.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Check to see if they come with updated accelerator pump seal for todays gas! Don't run black seal.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
What's all included in these kits? I've only ever used the kits for VW Solex carbs. I have a 4BBL Q-Jet I may have to rebuild when I finally find a choke thermostat for it.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
I haven't built a Q-jet in a long time, but the last kit I used was from Tomco. It was really good, but I don't know if they exist anymore. There was a thread on another forum about a year ago about difficulies finding good accelerator pumps, so maybe that has resolved. If it was me, I would see if you can get a kit from GM first, if not I would buy one at NAPA.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Is it the carb off your 6? I rebuilt one once and thought I was really doing something! Then I took it apart and realized a chimp can do it! "lol"
I think I used a BWD kit and it was a breeze. Truck ran a LOT better afterwards!

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
I'm in taking one of these. rebuild my Qjet or buy an edelbrock, for sure I would like rebuild it, I'll save $ that can spend in other things.
Now where we can find those kits. I don't think autozone or O'reylly have them. |

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Any parts store can get one. Carquest or Napa are good. I did one for someone & they brought a kit from O'reillys. I didn't like it.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Yep... off of the '69. Just purchasing parts when I have spare cash so when time permits I'll jump into detailing under the hood.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
I saw were SLIKSIDE said Cliffshighperformance.com, I had Cliff rebuild mine for me. The thing to keep in mind with todays fuel is the percentage of Ethanol. It will eat things up and Cliffs has put together Kits for that.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Bought my rebuild kit through Rock Auto. Good price, fast service. It's still sitting in the box, on the workbench because I got distracted by my motorcycle, but I'm looking forward to getting at it.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Any parts store kit will be good. I've used many kits from many different manufactureres for Q-jets amd Carter/Edelbrock style carbs. The only carbs that I rebuild with a factory rebuild kit is Holley carbs...

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
Can't go wrong with a kit from Cliff's. NAPA kits are good also.

Re: Carb Rebuild Kits
That's OK with me - you have to walk before you can run.
