dist corrosion?
so I was leaving for the weekend and decided to take the battery and pull the wire off the dist cap since there has been a few stolen cars in the area latley. Well when I pulled the wire off I found corrosion on the connector and inside the plug wire too.... what will cause this and how will this effect the running of the vehicle? I checked all the other plug connectors on the cap and all seemed good...do I need to look inside the cap too... suggestions please

Re: dist corrosion?
I would check under the cap too, but if you put a little dielectric grease in your boots this should take care of your probelm, if you get enough inside the cap your engine will run poorly and sometimes not run at all. Hope this has helped

Re: dist corrosion?
Yeah, I agree.. if its that bad on the outside then the inside may be bad as well. You can sand the contacts inside and milk it for awhile, but it always seems to come back...
