Front/rear gears 85 pickup

http://asheville.craigslist.org/pts/2549945387.html

Is this possible? I would've thought 4X4's had lower gears than this (2.73) from the factory. Anybody know right off what they offered?

Thanks!

Re: Front/rear gears 85 pickup

I'm not sure of all the ratios they offered in 85, but a buddy has 2.73 gears in his Jimmy, they're highway gears and pretty much explains his good fuel economy. I beleive they were offered in GM trucks up till 91, when they drop the 2.73's for 3.08's. It also depended on the transmission in the truck, when the 4l60e came in to play the transmissions gearing changed and 2.73's were no longer needed.

Believe it or not, they came even higher than that. There was a 2.56 available for them too....w/ a 700r4 to boot. Complete dud.

Re: Front/rear gears 85 pickup

My old 84 had 2.73 with the OD and 31" tires. Set land speed records as long as there weren't any hills...
