87 Pick up & 87 Suburban Info Needed

I am looking to do a swap between a pick up and a Suburban. Can any tell me if the engine, trans, computer and wiring are the same between the two. I have a 87 truck that has been sitting for about ten years because the tranny went bad and can get a running Suburban that has a good engine, trans and several other parts. I know most will interchange just not sure on the fuel injection part of it. Any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Engine, trans, computer should be the same. The fuel system will be similar as far as teh throtthe body and flexible fuel lines, from there the pickup and Sub lines are different. The sub hs a rear mounted fuel tank, while the pickup has saddle tank (or tanks).

Thanks Jonboy. I can probably use the original lines for the truck, it has dual tanks.

Do you know what parts may be different? This is my main concern, tbi sensors and fuel injection. I want to keep it original looking or as close as possible and I would have both complete vehicles.

i just realized 87 was tbi for all trucks. so it will swap over easily as they use the same unit providing the engine and trans are the same as what was in the 87.

Re: 87 Pick up & 87 Suburban Info Needed

I'm doing the same thing. I'm using a 90' burb with an 87' truck. Everything so far has been virtually identical. My burb has the serpintine belt set up, so that's a little different. I swapped the the sepintine setup to the truck last weekend. My next step will be the wiring.
