Windshield Wiper moves when ignition is turned on HELP!!!

On my 1982 chevy 6.2 to warm up the glow plugs I have to turn the ignition on first to warm up the plugs, however when I do this rhe wipers make one swipe, it also happens when I turn on the headlights.
Any ideas on whats causing it to do this?

this happened to me just last night. i was trying to re-wire the washer motor directly from the wind shield wiper motor. and every time i would start up my truck my wind shield wipers would turn on.
It turns out i had a bad ground cable hook up to a current so it was making them turn on automatically. if i were you i would go back and check ever wired you moved and or touched. i did this for about an hour trying to see what i did wrong. any little wire you hook up wrong will cause something else to work,

Unfortuantly I never touched the wiring, was like this when it was purchased.

Mt 83 just started this also , Can't wait to hear the fix.
(It has intermittent wipers if it makes a difference)

I haven't looked at the design on these trucks, but there is either a mechanical or electrical component that turns the wiper motor off when the blades are at the lowest position. Otherwise, the would stop in whatever position they were in when the switch was turned off. There must be a bad connection or defective component related to that. A bad ground makes sense.

just fixed mine
my 78 switch pushed out the back
found a bent and broken copper strip inisde the switch
and it seemed fulla dirt,fixed it to work but no squirt

but the random swipes seem to be ground issues in later trucks

motornut where do I begin to look for the grounding issue?

where the motors nuts are bolted in, on one it has a ground strap
what i've seen is the strip of copper strip may corrode or break
or the bolt rusts too
