Re: 60-66 hood customizations

I am going to take out the "spear" from the center of the hood and replace it with flat sheetmetal or maybe a peak from another 60s hood. it is what really dates and clutters the look of the front in my opinion. no pics, but its my idea.

Re: 60-66 hood customizations

My idea for a modified hood is to make one that looks like a version GM never produced, merging components from the jet pod hood with the 62-66 version. Specifically, I’ve never liked the twin ribs down the center of the late hood, so this area would be removed and replaced with the drop center section of the double hump hood. To keep everything in proportion, the later hood would be split into sections moving the left and right upper panels outboard, moving the drop style line closer to the sides of the hood. Then the drop center section of the early hood would be fitted in the middle. If I had the talent to build this design, it would be mounted on my truck right now. The reality is I have no sheet metal skills at all other than ding and dent repair.

I also have no photo shop skills so I can’t demonstrate a finished example. Here’s a rough mock up of the concept on the hood photo posted above. I’m going to attempt building this design in 1/25 scale just to have it on a model.
