vin says trucks a v6 ?
I have a 67 gmc 3/4 ton pick up that is equiped with a 327, sm420 4 speed, rockwell t221, dana 60, dana 44, the truck does not have a/c and looks simple. My question is I am the third owner and was told that the 327 came from the factory with the truck and the original owner claimed the same. so would it be possible it could have been an option ? and is there a way I can tell because when i decode the vin it says the truck is a v6, mainly just to make up my mind what direction to go with the truck.

Re: vin says trucks a v6 ?
327s found their way into '67 GMCs late in the year. Through the '60s V8s weren't offered in GMCs until late '67. Does you VIN start out KM2 or KE2? M is for V6 and E is V8.

Re: vin says trucks a v6 ?
You have the vertical rectangle with simulated vents and Custom script on top? That's the top of the line equivalent to a Chevy CST. It's actually a Super Custom. Customs had a Custom script-only in that spot. It's larger and a little different than what you see on doors. I guess you have the buddy bucket seats,a horn button with clear plastic, and all the trim. Sounds like a nice truck from factory. I'm guessing the 327 was put in,unless there's something I never knew or saw. I'd think a VIN wouldn't vary from any standards. It's the whole basis of what identifies the truck for the owner, dealer,MVA,and anyone who services it. The engine towers, what the motor mounts bolt to,would be different for V6 and V8. Those could also be swapped, but most never did when swapping motors. I'm not sure, without looking at your truck,of any ways to tell. I assume your option sheet isn't on the inside of the glovebox door.Very few '67 GMCs got those...for whatever reason.
