BBC with 177 blower, can it be kept underhood??
As the title states, my son's 67's will be getting a B&M 177 blower and am wondering if anyone else is running one, and if so, would it stay under a 2 "cowl hood, or would I need to go to a 4"? Any pics would be great. I'd really not cut a stock hood up and having anything sticking out.

I doubt it will fit even with a 4" cowl hood

Why not?
The 177 is not the huge 8-71 blower but the more compact version. All I know is it will to close on the 4" cowl hood.

Re: BBC with 177 blower, can it be kept underhood??
It had pleanty of room on the small block, I'm just unsure how much taller a BBC is over a BBC. I was hoping with a drop base air cleaner that I could get it down low enough....

Don't know if it helps, but I got a 142 on a small block sitting under the stock hood.

I'll get you some pics when I get home from work. I have a BBC with a 177 and it sits about like fastwillies. It might work on a 4", doubt it will on a 2".

It might they are 6" from the bottom to highest point but overall height from the bot of manifold the differance is only about 1.1/2 inches with the 177 being shorter than the 871 here is a post with dimensions from offshore http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...77-height.html Last edited by mbgmike; 08-25-2011 at 08:49 PM. |
