Hood hinges

Yep, 73-80's bolt to inside of fender & have the large spring attached to the hinge so these won't work... Mario has a CNC guy that can 100% fabricate a set for me, but if ya think the production versions are pricey - sure that would be even worse!!! Will see what time brings though - maybe if that guy wants to produce them for sale he'd give me a break on the labor portion to build 'em - who knows...

I dont remember the length, but they are off of a mid 90s Jeep Grand Cherokee off of the back lift gate. they were the only ones strong enough to hold up my hood at the low angle I have it set at. the closer to the front of the truck you mount the ball stud on the fenders the lower it keeps the hood when opened. I wanted mine to be the same height as the roof when opened, but if I need to work under the hood I just disconnect them and the ball stud and hold the hood fully open with a hood prop.

Thanks... my hood opens to low for me..either i'm to tall or tha truck is to low..i'm crack my head on tha latch every time..i'll have to look into those..

Working on a line with Mario to maybe get some custom fabricated by a CNC guy & then hopefully set-up for a production run if people will actually be interested in buying them. All just in in the theoretical stage at the moment, but will keep you guys updated if any of the gears start meshing!

Yeah, except for already emailed them & they are not interested in creating a set.... Trust me, I think I emailed about everyone out there that makes billet hood hinges! Like I said though, if I were famous or making a SEMA car they might consider it, but for the average guy they don't have the time...

Well, let me know if your lead doesn't work out for the other guy. I believe I can model them in Solidworks and machine them as well on Cnc equipment. I haven't seen anything in the design of any of them that is complicated. The only problem you may have from me is the delay....sometimes takes a while for me to get the actual prototypes done.

Well, I did find a shop on my own that's gonna do this for me & my factory hinges are en route to them as we speak. He's gonna work me up a computer model & then send me a quote for building them. I am sure as mine will be a "one-off" set & require all the programming that they'll be pretty expensive, but once they have the first set completes, can't see why they wouldn't be able to reproduce them for about what other companies charge for billet hinges!!!

Also in contact with an Editor at Truckin' about maybe getting a tech article done on the making of these hinges. Seems like there's GOT to be a lot of interest out there for this item on the square body Chevy's - hell, the 67-72's can't have all the damn fun & attention can they???

BTW - the shops called Greening Auto Company in Tennessee. Their a hot rod shop, but specialize in making their own custom billet parts. Jesse seemed very nice & is eager to help unlike Fesler & Ring Brothers - they were pretty much a*#holes...

Sounds like you have a plan. I hope to have a few machines of my own in the future. I really enjoy making "Cool" stuff for cars. Aluminum is the easiest to work with and polish too. I may have to see what I can come up with on these hinges. We make WAY more complicated parts on a daily bases. But I am working for the man and not myself. I can come in early or stay late and build stuff for my projects occasionally.
