1951 Door Patch Panel Problem

Hey guys.. I've tried to figure this out, but I just can't get it. I've welded in a new patch panel on both the inner and outer lower part of the door. The rear part of the door sticks out about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch from the rear part of the cab (where it should be flush.) I've adjusted the hinges both up and down, side to side and replaced the upper hinge pin and springs too. (I can't remember if the door was ever straight to begin with, etc. )

Re: 1951 Door Patch Panel Problem

I'm sending you two set of pictures on how i fixed the problem on the suburban doors. the first set shows the door pulled in at the bottom and the pictures show how i split the inter door skin and pulled the door out at the bottom until it lined up and welded it back up..

Re: 1951 Door Patch Panel Problem

Now that the bottom was fixed and because the door was twisted the top stuck out so i did the same thing, cut it on the inside under the back window and pulled it in until it fit and welded it back up.. it all worked out good and the doors opened and closed much better..
What i'm saying if your door is sticking out at the bottom you can cut the door skin and pull the door in until it's flush and weld it back up.. hope this helps you.
