How to replace tailgate post.

The bottom flange that bolts to my tail pan as well as the area behind the taillight is rotted out on my blazer. Has anyone ever replaced the tailgate post and how hard was it. I know I have to drill out the spot welds but is there anything else involved.

Re: How to replace tailgate post.

Does anyone have any input on this or should I throw it on the main board. I think if I can find one, ill cut off the last foot of the quarter and partch a good section in.

Re: How to replace tailgate post.

here are a few pics of the area after it was cut of a salvage blazer i had at one time. i never used the panels so i don't have any help on the install but maybe these will help figure out how it goes together. that is the drivers side tailgate post and fender from the bottom. the hole you can see the yellow strapping through is the taillight opening. the cut was made about 1 inch from the bed floor. you can see the tailgate mounting holes still on the fender
