Trans cooler on 85 c20 400 trans?

Guys I have an 85 silverado C20 with a 350 and a 400 trans...engine less than 10,000 miles and trans is a crate unit from AC Delco. I had an original copper and brass 4 core radiator rebuilt and installed from a 454 truck.

I was wondering about trans temps pullin loads in 105 degree heat. Is there a spot on the 400 trans to install a fitting to allow me to run electrical to the fitting and hook up to a temp gauge in the cab? The newer 4l60e's have them.

Also, I dont like the idea of the radiator trans cooler, I keep hearing lately of them bursting and smoking the trans. I'd like to install an auxillary cooler, such as a tru-cool 40K. Could I just Bolt the cooler in front of the radiator behind the grille, and then clamp the necessary hose onto the hardlines that are SUPPOSED to screw in the radiator, and just run the hose to my cooler, completely bypassing the radiator cooler? Those tru-cool 40k's keep temps way low, my 01 has one. Thanks for any advice.

Heres a link, I can find them cheaper if you look- this is just an example.

Yes, bypass the stock cooler and run the larger, more efficient cooler in front of the radiator. You can install the temp sensor in-line under the hood. It doesn't have to be at the trans.
