LT-1 swap questions

I had someone offer to sell me a 95 Trans Am with an LT-1 motor in it. I'd like to put it in my 71 truck. Will I need a high hump trans tunnel for the 4L60E transmissions. What about the radiator. Will I need a new one, or can I use my stock one. Any help I can get would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: LT-1 swap questions

My brother has a 72 with an LT-1 when it was put in they used the radiator from the Camaro. They also used the electric fans from the Camaro. It looks nice and works great no overheating, even with A/C. The engine mounts were moved to the furthest back position also. I know you must want some pics, I will see if I can get some for you

No need for a high hump tunnel. One other thing you will need to relocate the a/c compressor. The F body location is low on the pass side. It will hit the frame rail if left there, some guys have notched the frame but I would rather find another mount if your truck will have a/c.

Looks nice! What AC brackets did you use?

Any suggestions on what AC brackets to use? Roadmaster or Impala maybe?

Re: LT-1 swap questions

I love my LT1 swap, I used an older 700R4, but did not modify any of the firewall or trans tunnel on my truck. I have the high hump, but the trans is no where near it. I am using the Camaro radiator, fans, radiator hoses, p/s res, etc. Basically everything I could that came out of the donor car.

I believe that you need to use the Corvette accessory bracket to use A/C, the other models you mentioned may work (or be the same) if they put the A/C compressor up high on the Drivers side as in the photo above.

Here is mine....
