Generator Light

We just got the 65 GMC running this weekend after 10 months of restoration. I will share some photos soon.

The Generator light stays on while driving. I figured out from the forum that it is either not charging or it is a grounding issue. The PO installed a single wire alternator and jumped 1 and 4 on the voltage meter.

I check the voltage at idle and it was 14.1 I did an ohm test from the negative terminal to the alternator casing and it showed good continuity. I verfied continuity on the frame, block, and firewall. I assume that verifies that I have a good ground.

So, any other suggestion on what I should do. I hate to simply pull the bulb.

Thanks!

Re: Generator Light

When I review the wiring diagram, I see pink and brown wires that feed the generator light. The brown goes to the voltage regulator and the pink to the ignition. I think it has to do with the voltage regulator and the fact I have a single wire alternator. I am heading down that path. I will verify the jumper wire is working on the voltage regulator.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Thanks,
