Re: New Project!! '63 SWB Fleet My Build Thread

so, i found a fuel pump online for 25 shipped, at napa it was 40, but in the interest of getting it sooner i went ahead and coughed up the 40 bucks to NAPA because I do not want to wait 2 weeks to get my part. I pick up the pump tomorrow morning so I should have the truck running by tomorrow night!!! then on to the brakes and suspension....any suggestions on drops? I was going to go 5-5 drop with disk brakes up front, has anyone tried the zero offset spindles from CPP? any pics?

Re: New Project!! '63 SWB Fleet My Build Thread

there is def good pressure in the lines, I just think that something is preventing the fuel from moving through the bowl and into the intake manifold, I went to loosen the fuel line where it enters the carb and fuel started squirting out like it was under pressure....anyone who knows something about these 6 cyl carburetors please chime in

same thing happened to my 66 pressure at the inlet of the carb. Had to rebuild the carb it was all gumed up with dark brown looking tar nasty stuff. The tar was plugging the needle and seat.

Re: New Project!! '63 SWB Fleet My Build Thread

ya i talked to a guy at http://www.thecarburetorshop.com and he told me that if i filled that little tube up that sticks out of the carb with gas and let it sit for a while that the needle and seat may free up as the gas acts as a solvent....thanks for confirming, I had no idea what was wrong, only that i needed to rebuild my carb

Very easy. Just did mine, same as yours. $13 for a rebuild kit at my local NAPA. Actual working time was probably 30 minutes. Once it was apart I let it soak for several hours then scrubbed with a brush to get it nice and clean. Take alot of pictures when you are tearing it down to make reassembly much easier.
