66 Ride height??

Has anyone raised the ride height on a 2wd, 60-66 truck. Just would like to raise truck a bit for a little more ride height. Didn't know if it could be done???

Re: 66 Ride height??

How high are you wanting to go?

Don't forget that ride height is also affected by tire size.

Re: 66 Ride height??

well, maybe just a couple of inches....it is a 3/4 ton, so it sits ok now, just wanted to sit a little higher. Kinda like a 4x4 look, without the 4x4. tires are 7.50x16's.

Re: 66 Ride height??

Well the first thing is to get rid of the antiquated 750X16 tires and step up (assuming you don't have split rims).
You can go (again, assuming you have a wheel wide enough) to LT255/85R16 (@ 33.6" tall but can be somewhat hard to find) or 285/75R16 @32.5" tall.

yeah, they are the split rims....I was just trying to find a way to raise the body up without a body lift. Will those tires fit on a stock 2wd 3/4 ton truck?

Re: 66 Ride height??

Even if you swapped out to regular rims the tallest tire that would probably fit without any issues is LT235/85R16 which is pretty close in height to the 750x16's you already have. But you do get the benefit of a modern radial tire that is all season.

Other than blocking up the springs (which creates its own issues) I think you may be stuck. It can be done but it will take some $$$. I have never, ever been a fan or proponent of body lifts for any reason.

Re: 66 Ride height??

The easy way is with taller tires as blackedoutharley already mentioned. This will also help out with you likely quite low rear gear ratio. Other than that you are looking at either a body lift or a suspension lift.
