What shall I do?

I cant figure out what I want to do to my 88. I have a few different ideas.

1. M1007 that never was (CUCV Military style)
2. Lift, tires etc, but I dont 4x4 much
3. Redo the police style theme with lights and all(green)
4. 2" lift 33" A/T's and dark blue heavy flake paint(or similar)

Here is the truck: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=4697630

Any other ideas are greatly appreciated

Re: What shall I do?

That's a nice survivor, I'd be tempted to drive it as-is for a while. But I think you have driven it and thought it out well, I like both ideas. I'd go option #1 just because the jr police look may wear thin. Going that route means you run the risk of all the work coming out perfectly, but it looks like a shopping mall security vehicle. You could go desert tan, 3" lift over 33x12.50's (black rims), blackout the chrome, maybe a narrow push-bar up front with a pair of lights? This would give you a unique and fun to drive look that could easily be remade into something else later on. But I'm not sure I'd get over it, I've sold myself if not you.

Agree with this. Especially since this is along the lines I intend to go with my suburban. Flat desert tan, all exterior accents(including bumpers, wheels, and headlight and grilles surrounds) black. Also leaning towards a small lift with large tires(really like how our year look this way). Gonna make up custom bumpers for mine tho.

Doing it the way bruiser suggested is definitely a way to go if you think you might wanna change it up at some point.

Re: What shall I do?

I like #1. I think it would be fairly easy. You could do more later, like a lift, bigger wheels and tires.

Re: What shall I do?

Go with a nice military CARC paintjob! Afterall it does stand for chemical agent resistant coating ) I'd build the burb Gov't style then just add some slight beef with a 4" lift and 33"s. Its hard to tell on my computer but is that quad headlight?

Re: What shall I do?

Yeah, it's quad headlight. I figured out what I'm going to do. Leave it stock height, replace the springs with new ones though. 31-33" tires on Ansen sprints. Redo all of the body work and repaint it snow white, then do an 80's style stripe pattern on the side in a teal/cobalt blue pearl. With orange/red pinstripe outline for the stripes. I want to make it look like it was done after it was purchased in 88. Oh, and replace the bumpers with C10 bumpers(no rubber). Although to replace the front bumper I have to get the front 12" of frame replaced, or have some flat stock bent to replace the top and bottom the the C channel.

Re: What shall I do?

The front 12" of the bottom of the C was cut out and the front 3" of the top of the C was cut out. The chief went to a local 4x4 shop and said I need a bumper to hold a winch for $175. So, they gave him a jeep bumper, a torched frame, and a piece of diamond plate. Bastards. I would never let that leave my shop, I wouldn't want my name on that crap.

Re: What shall I do?

That is pretty crappy. I can't stand how someone can do that and think it is safe let alone a supposedly legit shop. I work for a Fire District and these guys are sticklers for truck specs, and have a whole committe crawling all over the thing. Not always the best thing but it does keep some stuff like that from happening. They shoulda went with a Hickey Sidewinder and left the stock bumper on it. That would have been nice to have!
