question about my truck and whether its worth trying to sell

So, I have this 1985 Chevy c-10 longbed 305V8-had a lot of issues in the past few years but she runs and drives though it limps a bit and i think the head gasket is staring to leak on one side.

i tried to post a WIW thread but could not, and i will not bore anyone by asking that here, i really just want to know what the collective consensus would be on this forum on whether its even worth selling the truck now... will it be a viable sell knowing it has a leak and the engine is misfiring one cylinder right now? oil leak on the front of the block, and such too, though she does at least have a new radiator, rebuilt tranny, fresh plugs and re-tuned the carb and run fresh chemicals/fluids everywhere.

just wondering because i have simply had a bad time with it now,and after being in the family for over 26 years i think i am fed up with this truck.

thanks, sorry for the mini-rant...

If it's been in the family that long you better keep it or you will regret it. I would suggest taking a break and step back for a bit fix the things you need to and have some fun with it!

Anything running and drivable is "worth" something when it comes time to sell.
The question becomes is what you are going to get out of a truck with some issues going to be worth what you think you should get out of it.

Sounds like you have a bad engine, not a worthless truck. Nothing breathes inspiration into an old ride like a nicely rebuilt or new engine. Touch the key, feel the rumble, love the truck.

Does it have rust? A rust free body is always worth $$, as long as it is not dented/banged up. Is the interior good? A non-cracked dash is valuable, good door panels are a popular item, as well as a good instrument cluster. Your rebuilt trans should sell. Even used rotors/drums, etc. should bring some money. Your truck as scrap is worth $250, maybe more if you strip it down to get rid of the plastic and rubber. I would say $800-$1000 is possible with self-disassembly and sale, assuming the parts are in good shape.

I agree. Dump the boat anchor worn out 305 and get yourself a fresh engine for it.

A factory roller cam Vortec 350 out of a 96-99 truck / SUV or on up to 2002 from a van will bolt right in and just need a carburetor intake manifold swap to keep it simple.

Even a reman gen-I small block from the local engine re-builder will make a big improvement.
